Codex Committee on Edible Ices (CCIE)

The issue of whether or not to elaborate standards on edible ices was first raised at the Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC) in 1965 but it was seven years before the Codex Committee on Edible Ices (CCIE) was established, with Sweden as its host.  

Once established, the CCIE resolved to work on a worldwide standard for edible ices and ice mixes. Before the standard was adopted, at CAC12 in 1978, the Committee announced it had decided to adjourn sine die. 

The Standard for edible ices and ice mixes was finally adopted in 1981, at CAC14. It was subsequently revoked in 1997 (CAC22). The CCIE was abolished at the same meeting.
