CCNE meetings lay groundwork for CCSCH8 and CAC48

by CCNE Coordinator and IUFoST

The 41st and 42nd meetings of Codex Contact Points (CCPs) from CCNE member countries were held virtually on 9 and 16 October 2025, chaired by Dr. Intisar Al-Gharibi, CCNE Coordinator from the Sultanate of Oman, under the umbrella of the Arab Codex Initiative implemented by the Arab Industrial Development, Standardization and Mining Organization (AIDSMO) — a Codex Observer — and the Global Food Regulatory Science Society (GFoRSS), the disciplinary group of IUFoST.

The 41st meeting focused on regional coordination for the 8th Session of the Codex Committee on Spices and Culinary Herbs (CCSCH8), while the 42nd meeting analyzed agenda items for the 48th Session of the Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC48).

“Although informal, these coordination meetings play a very important role in strengthening our regional engagement in Codex”, said Dr. Intisar Al-Gharibi CCNE Chairperson, They allow Members and Observers to exchange information, share experiences, and prepare collectively for upcoming committee discussions. Such exchanges greatly enhance our readiness and coherence as a region ahead of key milestones, including the upcoming CAC48”.

Both meetings reaffirmed the strong commitment of CCNE countries to coordinated participation in Codex work and to strengthening Arab engagement in global food standard-setting processes.
